Furthermore the society:
* Provides leadership in addressing issues that confront the future of the Internet.
* Is the organizational home for the groups responsible for Internet infrastructure standards, including the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the Internet Architecture Board (IAB).
* Acts as a global clearinghouse for Internet information and education.
* Facilitates and coordinate Internet-related initiatives around the world.
By sponsoring events, developing-country training workshops, public policy, and regional and local Chapters, to serve the needs of the growing global Internet community.
ISOC Gambia Chapter is currently in rejuvenation. The chapter had not been active for many years, however, the rapid growth of the internet and its impact on development necessitated the push to bring back the chapter. There will be lessons learnt from the previous organization which will no doubt guide this new process to ensure the chapter remains vibrant and relevant to the development of the internet in the country, region and globally
