The McShin Foundation was founded in 2004 by husband and wife duo John Shinholser and Carol McDaid to fill a void they saw in the care of Richmonders seeking recovery. We are Virginia's leading non-profit, full-service Recovery Community Organization (RCO), serving individuals and families in their fight against Substance Use Disorders. We aim to spread the word of recovery and educate families, communities, and the government regarding SUDs. The only RCO in Virginia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Peer Recovery Support Services (CAPRSS). We offer a 28-day recovery program, sober living in recovery houses, and partner with leading physicians for addiction treatment in Richmond VA. From two offices in a church basement, McShin has grown into the organization it is today, including a 15,000 square foot recovery center and over 100 recovery residence beds in Richmond and the surrounding areas.
