The Gambia National Olympic Committee - The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory

The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) is a non-profit Olympic organization that was established and affiliated to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1976. The GNOC is the sole sports organization in the Gambia responsible for preparing and sending athletes to World Games that are sanctioned by International Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Federation.

Our Mission

The mission of The GNOC is to develop and protect the Olympic movement in The Gambia in accordance with The Olympic Charter and in order to fulfil this mission, The GNOC pledges to co-operate with Government and Non Governmental bodies, and shall not under any circumstances associate with any activity which would contradict the Olympic Charter.

Our Objectives

The Gambia National Olympic Committee shall serve as an operational link between National Sports Associations, the International Olympic Committee and other International Organizations. It shall, in the execution of its functions, and to the best of its ability, endeavour to remain true to the ideas and practices of the International Olympic Committee with which it shall retain its affiliate ties.

Olympic Solidarity

The aim of Olympic Solidarity is to organize assistance to all the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), particularly those with the greatest needs, through multi-faceted programs prioritizing athlete development, training of coaches and sports administrators, and promoting the Olympic values. The Olympic Solidarity Commission is responsible for defining the main courses of action and managing the activities of Olympic Solidarity, for example by approving programs and the related budgets, and monitoring their implementation
